Monette B. Carter

Monette B. Carter, age 101, of Lake Station passed away suddenly Tuesday April 15, 2025, in St Mary Medical Center in Hobart. Monette was born in Benton, Illinois to the late Alton and Edith (Jones) Bozarth. She retired from the Savoy Supper Club in Portage with twenty-five years of service in the kitchen and banquet hall. She loved spending time with her family, listening to Southern gospel music. She had a huge heart and shared it freely with those she loved.

She is survived by her son, David (Sue) Carter of Piketon, Ohio; her two daughters, Susan Lewandowski of Chesterton, and Debra Carter of Lake Station; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Monette was preceded in death by her loving husband, Warner Carter; her son, Bernard (Karen) Carter, two daughters Shirley (Don) Gunter, and Beverly "Janie" (Bob) Lambert; her parents; and seven brothers and sisters.

Funeral services for Monette will be conducted at 6:00 pm Monday April 21, 2025, at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Avenue Portage, Indiana 46368 with Pastor Mark L. Hostetler officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be Tuesday April 22, 2025 at 2:00 pm in Tate's Chapel Cemetery in Galatia, Illinois.
