Morton Ray Hope, Sr. "Hoppie", age 86, of Portage passed away Monday, November 24, 2014. He was born on February 20, 1928 in Butler County, Kentucky to the late and Fred and Ruth Hope. Morton retired after 42 years of working for US Steel as an Operator. He will be sorely missed. Morton enjoyed fishing, watching wrestling and playing cards but his greatest joy in life was the time he spent with his grandkids.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Martine (nee Mastison) Hope; children, Carolyn (Tom) Scott, Morton Ray (Judy) Hope, Jr., Sally Ann (Bill) Randolph, Milton (Nancy Scalzitti) Hope, Theresa (Mark Cutrel) Knight; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; brother, Harlan (Judy) Hope; sisters, Velma Jones, Flossie (Charles) West, Elizabeth Sublett.

Morton is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ruth Hope; daughter, Debra Kay Hope; brothers, Randall Hope, Vernie Hope and George Hope; sisters, Ruby Double, Bessie House, Mary Hope and Polly Hope; father in law, Ira Mastison; mother in law, Sallie Mae Mastison.

A funeral service for Morton will take place Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, IN with Pastor Leonard Russell officiating.
