Myra Fickenscher of Portage, Indiana, age 96, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 08, 2012 at Chicagoland Christian Village in Crown Point. She was a Washington Park High School graduate and married the love of her life George J. Fickenscher on April10, 1937 in Racine Wisconsin. She was a homemaker and worked as a Banquet waitress at the Hotel Gary. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed Bingo and Bunco.
Myra is survived by her son; George L (Sharon) Fickenscher of Lake of Four Seasons, 2 daughters; Beverly (Jeffrey) Miller of Lowell and Mary (Dick) Wood of Portage, her brother-in-law; Leroy(Wilma) Albrecht, 6 grandchildren; Michael, Linda, Tracy, John, Barbie and Brian, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband George J. Fickenscher; parents Louis and Mary Enslin, brother Louis Enslin and sister Viola Wendt.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am Friday September 14, 2012 at the Rees Funeral Home Olson Chapel 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, Indiana with Rev. Timothy Engel officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Hobart, Indiana. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Thursday September 13, 2012 at the funeral home.
