Myrna E. Leininger, age 89 of Portage went home to her Lord on Wednesday, June 8, 2011. She was born on March 26, 1922 in Butte, Nebraska to the late David and Ruth Allgor. She was a farmers wife and homemaker and had worked for a time at U.S. Steel as a Crane Operator. She joined the Indiana Prairie View Homemakers in 1966. Myrna volunteered her time as a 4H leader and was a member of the Portage Historical Society, and the Dames and Dolls.

She is survived by her children, Lloyd (Jackie) Schavey of AL; Ruth (Walter) McCulloch of Portage, IN; David (Karen) Schavey of TN; Louise (Jerry) Strharsky of WI; Richard (Connie) Schavey of FL; Donna Schavey, 1 brother, Lester (Helen) Allgor of MN; 3 sisters, Mary (Paul) Kramer, Laura (Don) Berglund, and Thelma Allgor all of MN; 12 grandchildren, Debbie Schavey, Susie Schavey, Eric (Amy) Schavey, Kim Schavey, Matt (Yolanda) MCCulloch, Vincent (Melissa) McCulloch, Jennifer (Mark) Gruchalski, Ben Schavey, Nick Schavey, Kaitlyn Schavey, Jason Strharsky, and Lauren Strharsky and 9 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Clarence Schavey and Orlo Leininger.

Funeral services are Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 1 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery.
