N. April Marie Buckner (nee Gemina), age 64 of Portage passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2011. She was born on April 11, 1946 in the Philippines. She earned her degree in Business Administration from the University of East Manila Philippines in 1969. She attended the First United Methodist Church of Portage. April was a former member of the Evangelical Covenant Church of Portage where she was also in the choir. She worked as a booth attendant for Indiana DOT. April was a member of American Legion Auxilairy Post 502 of South Haven, American Legion Auxiliary Post 260 of Portage, and VFW Auxiliary Post 7760 of Portage.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce Buckner of Portage, IN; 1 son, Marc Alexey (Belinda) Gemina of the Philippines, IN; 4 brothers, Candido S. (Lina) Gemina Jr., of the Philippines, Elywanto S. (Benilda) Gemina of Chicago, IL; Freddie S. (Susan) Gemina of Los Angeles, CA; Alex S. (Gloria) Gemina of Sugarland, TX; 2 sisters, Judith G. (Andy) Paysisihan of Chicago. IL; June G. Jacobe of the Philippines, 2 granddaughters, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Candido and Urbana Gemina Sr. .

Funeral services are Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel, 3781 Central Ave., Lake Station. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Portage.
