Nancy J. Amstein

Nancy Amstein (nee: Maciejewski), 67, of Porter, Indiana passed away with her family at her side on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.  She was born August 6, 1956, in Hammond, Indiana to the late Edward and Josephine Maciejewski.

Nancy graduated from Hammond High School in 1975 and in 1979 married her love, Jeffrey Amstein, and together they raised 2 children.  They were members of Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church in Portage for many years, where she also was a teacher's aid with the students there.  When they moved to Porter, they became members of St. Patrick Catholic Community.  Nancy was a homemaker who loved to be home with her children caring for her family.  She enjoyed travelling and camping with her husband.  Most of all, she loved spending time with and supporting her grandchildren at all their events.  She will be greatly missed.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Jeffrey J. Amstein; daughter, Andrea Amstein; grandchildren, Jason, Carter, and Bryce Kobe; and brother, Dennis Maciejewski.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in passing by her son, Jeffrey E. Amstein.

A visitation will be held from 4:00pm – 8:00pm Monday, June 17 at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, Indiana.  The funeral service will be Tuesday, June 18 at 11:00am, with a short visitation from 9:00am – 11:00am also at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Portage.  Condolences can be shared at www.reesfuneralhomes.com.
