Nancy Eileen Leonard, age 81, of Valparaiso passed away Sunday, September 11, 2016 at home. Nancy was born on November 9, 1934 in, Gary, Indiana the daughter of the late Elizabeth (nee Young) Goranovich. On July 1, 1960 Nancy married the love of her life the late Lawrence "Lonnie" W. Leonard in Hobart, Indiana. Nancy loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing puzzles. She will be remembered as a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Nancy is survived by her four sons, Jeffery (Karen) Leonard of Porter, Randy (Patty) Leonard of Hebron, Michael (Jenny) Leonard of Valparaiso and Terry Leonard of Jefferson, Ohio; two daughters, Cheryl (Richard) Huntzinger of Greenfield and Susan Balchak of Portage; 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; sister, Betty Matzueff; three brother- in –laws, Tom (Joyce), Brian (Diane), Terry (Sandi) Leonard; one sister- in-law, Marcia (Charles) Siar ; two special nieces, Pat and Sharron Purevich and many other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Cindy; foster parents Jack and Lucy Travis; four siblings, Jean (Keith) Norris, Jeanette (Tom) Purevich, Michael Goranovich and William Goranovich.
In lieu of flowers donations in Nancy's memory to VNA Horton Hospice in Valparaiso would be appreciated.
A visitation for Nancy Leonard will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Rees Funeral Home, 5341 Central Ave, Portage, Indiana 46368. Interment will be held at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso, Indiana. A funeral service for Nancy will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2016 also at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel.
