Nancy Peterson-Tilmon

Nancy Peterson-Tilmon, age 80, of Newburgh, IN, formerly of Hobart, IN, passed away quietly Friday, February 17, 2017 after a courageous battle with dementia. She was born January 10, 1937 in Chicago, IL to the late Paul and Margaret Peterson. She was a graduate of Merrillville High School class of 1955. She was employed by both Merrillville and Hobart School Corporations and also worked at Gary National Bank. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Charles Tilmon for 51 years, a dedicated mother to Jeffery and Jon and adored her grandsons, Jacob and Brevin. Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Tilmon in 2007 & son, Jeffery Tilmon in 1995. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Valerie Tilmon; grandsons: Jacob and Brevin Tilmon; daughter-in-law, Sandy Tilmon; sisters Yvonne and the late Robert Schuck and Cindy and Jim Kimberling. She had many cousins, nieces and nephews which she shared her life with. The most important thing to Nancy was her family. She gained her happiness and strength from having them around her. A special thank you to Heritage Hospice for their tremendous support and guidance during this difficult time. Atria Assisted Living for their positive and wonderful care they provided and also The Woodlands Golden Living Center in Newburgh IN for making the last months of her life as comfortable and pleasant as it could be. Nancy had loving support of caregivers with Janice Thomas, Diana Hart and Donna Hollander. Their attention to her daily life will never be forgotten. Friends and family may visit with the family on Monday, February 20, 2017 from 4 – 8 PM at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, IN. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Rees funeral Home, Hobart Chapel. Immediately following will be the burial at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso, IN.
