NAOMI FAYE (nee WOLFE) NELSON, age 87, of LaPorte, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Golden Living Center in LaPorte. Naomi had been a lifelong Northwest Indiana resident and retired from McGill Manufacturing in Valparaiso. She was an avid oil painter and very active in church Sunday school at various Nazarene Churches. Naomi loved bringing neighborhood children to church.
Naomi is survived by 3 sons, Arthur R. "Rick" (Rosa) Nelson, Jr. of Westville, Harold Mark Nelson of Chickasha, OK and Rob Nelson of Warsaw, IN, 8 grandchildren: Nicholas Good of Portage, Kristie Good of Michigan City, Michael Place of Warsaw, Carol (John) Beaver of Dowagiac, MI, Janet Nelson of Merrillville, Bruce (Ellie) Jahr of Chesterton, Shane (Joanna) Nelson of Valparaiso and Steven (Angie) Nelson of Westville, 15 great grandchildren, 3 brothers, James Wolfe of Westville, John (Gloria) Wolfe of Valparaiso and Brenton Wolfe of Shawneetown, IL, sister, Sarah C. Nagel of Searcy, Arkansas and nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Arthur R. Nelson, Sr., parents, Joseph and Nila (nee Sweet) Wolfe, 2 sons, Kenton & Daniel Nelson, daughter, Nancy Maldonado and sisters, Marian Bey and Dorothy Call.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 11:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, with Rev. Dr. Mark Hostetler officiating.
