Nell C. Sontheimer

Nell C. Sontheimer of Locust Fork, Alabama, and formerly of Merrillville, Indiana, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2016. She lived to be 101 years old. Mrs. Sontheimer was born in Alabama on November 8th, 1914 to Don Campbell and Buna Mae Sikes Campbell. She had four brothers: Comer, Chalmers, Johnnie Ray and Colbert. Nell was the mother of three, Buddy Jones (Zanah) of Texas, Linda Nell Ramsay (Bud) of Indiana and Luci Pigg (Troy) of Alabama. Her late husband, Leonard Sontheimer, passed away in 1976. Mrs. Sontheimer will be laid to rest next to him in Merrillville, IN.

Nell was a strong, independent woman of classic beauty. In her youth, she enjoyed traveling and lived in many states ranging from Montana to Washington DC to Texas, with many stops between. She was born and raised in Alabama and has resided there for the last thirty years.

Mrs. Sontheimer is survived by her three children, eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all.

A funeral service for Nell will take place Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 12:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West old Ridge Road, Hobart with Pastor Bob Burton officiating. She will be laid to rest at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
