Nelle Malinoff

Nelle Malinoff, age 89 a 53 year Portage resident formerly of Lake Station passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018. She was born on July 17, 1928 in Blountstown, Florida to the late Horace and Annie Patterson. Nelle worked as a QMA at Fountainview Place in Portage. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a member of the War Mothers Association at Post 260 in Portage. Nelle enjoyed bowling, softball, playing cards and spending time with her family. She was also a diehard Cubs fan.

She is survived by one son, Garry (Deborah) Malinoff of Wheatfield, IN; two daughters, Nadine "Nikki" (Bernie) Swab of Englewood, FL; Cassandra (Mike) Riley of Valparaiso, IN; grandchildren, Tina (Bret) Storey, Jennifer Malinoff, Christopher Malinoff, Bridgette (Josh) Marshall, Alex Riley, Kelsey Riley, and Samantha Riley, one great-grandchild, Tyler Malinoff, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas Malinoff, Jr., brothers and sisters, William, Ruth, Mamie, Mildred, Marlin, Dan, John, and MaryAnn.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the VNA Hospice of Porter County, 2401 Valley Drive, Valparaiso, IN 46383-2520.

Funeral services are Friday, April 20, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage with Pastor Bob Burton officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Portage. Visitation is Thursday, April 19, 2018 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a War Mother's Service at 7:00pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, Portage.
