Nettie Poe

Nettie L. Poe, age 73, of Valparaiso, passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2017.  She was born in Blount County, Alabama on February 19, 1944 to the late Neil and Bee (nee Worden) Purcell.  Nettie enjoyed flowers, birds, and the company of her family.  She will be remembered as a loving and generous mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Nettie is survived by her daughter, Georgina (Michael) Bires of North Judson; son, James Poe of Valparaiso; granddaughter, Jordan Bires; brother, Willis (Brenda) Purcell of Warrior, AL; sisters, Rita (Joe) Carlson of Portage, Patricia (late Jack) Dorton of Chesterton; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Poe; former husband, George Bonner; and brother, Roger Dale Purcell.

A graveside service will take place Monday, October 23, 2017 at 10:00 am directly at Calvary Cemetery, 2701 Willowdale Rd, Portage, IN 46368 with Chaplain Rob Dorow officiating.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 219-762-3013.
