Nicholis P. Batalis

Nicholis Peter Batalis, age 19 of Hobart, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2023. He was born in Merrillville, Indiana on March 8, 2004, to Peter and Kellie Batalis. Nick was a 2022 graduate of Hobart High School. He was currently employed as a Laborer with Detroit Painting and Maintenance. The best way to describe him is to say that he was light in this dark world. He made the world a better place with his ridiculous jokes.  He will always be remembered for his charisma and general love of life and food. He had a passion for music and spent a lot of time playing guitar and singing his heart out.

He is survived by his loving ma, Kellie Richardson; brother, Andrew Peter Batalis; sisters, Alex Batalis and Bella Batalis; grandfather, Thomas Richardson; uncles, John Cooper and Caleb Batalis who he shared a special bond with; step brothers, A.J. and Vas Batalis; brother from another mother, Adam Gonzalez; the big sister he never had, Alexus Hickle; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Peter Andrew Batalis in 2020; his grandfather, Andrew Peter Batalis; and his grandmother, Ninnie Nunley.

Memorial contributions in Nick's name may be made to the family.

A funeral service for Nick will take place Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart.
