Nina Jo Alexander, age 77, of Lake Station, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2017 at Miller's Merry Manor in Hobart.  She was born in Daisy, Tennessee on March 8, 1940 to the late Walter and Lelies (nee Swanger) Johnson.  Nina was a member of the Lake Station Senior Center where she served as Treasurer.  Nina was an animal lover who will be remembered most of all for being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend.

Nina is survived by her husband of 57 years, James Alexander; sons, Steve (Sandy) Alexander, Danny Ray Alexander; daughters, Tawana Goodson, Rhonda (Kevin) Burton; special nieces, Renee (Ed) Sable, Faye (Chester) Stewart; brother, Wallace (Deb) Johnson; sisters, Viola Sutter, Naomi Smith; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Chester, Howard, Marshall, W.K., Curtis; sisters, Margie Smith, Marie Mincey, Jeraline Johnson, Genevie Smith; and her parents.

Memorial contributions may be made, in Nina's honor, to the Hobart Humane Society 2054 East State Road 130 Hobart, IN 46342.

A funeral service for Nina will take place Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 10:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel, 3781 Central Ave. Lake Station, IN 46405 with Pastor Bob Burton officiating.  She will be laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Park, Hobart.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 3-7 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel.  For more information, please call 219-962-1606.  Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.reesfuneralhomes.com .
