Noelia Cruz, age 68, of Portage passed away Tuesday September 9, 2014 at the St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart. Noelia was born June 23, 1946 in Reynosa, Mexico to the late Horacio and Nazaria (Barrera) Ramos. Noelia worked for the Mason Law Firm in Gary and then the Portage Township Schools for 33 years as a secretary. Noelia was a member of Nativity of Our Savior Parish, a member of the Ladies Sodality at the church and the Ladies of Guadalupe where she was a past president. Noelia was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family.
Noelia is survived by her loving husband Carlos Cruz, Sr.; four children Carlos (Jaquelyn Frost) Cruz, Jr. of Madison, WI, Jason (Christine) Cruz of Elgin, IL, Rick (Angie) Cruz of Portage and Ann Marie (Douglas) Nelson of Valparaiso; eight grandchildren Jonathan, Amelia, Dominic, Nathan, Kale, Alyssa, Jenna and Rylan; one sister Nancy (Chris) Vullmahn of LaPorte; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Mary Nelda Eguia.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Saturday September 13, 2014 at Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church 2949 Willowcreek Road Portage, IN 46368 will Rev. Andrew Corona officiating. Burial will follow in Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville. Visitation will be from 2-8 pm Friday and from 9-10 am Saturday at the church.
