Norma Burton

Norma Burton (Nee Lindsey), age 86, a longtime Portage resident passed away Friday, November 5, 2021.  She was born on December 14, 1934 in Moundsville, West Virginia to the late Earl and Anna Pearl Lindsey.  On April 30, 1955 she married Bob Burton in Moundsville, West Virginia. Norma worked the switchboard at Glendale Hospital in West Virginia and then worked at U.S. Stamping works. When she moved to Portage she worked for the Portage National Bank, retiring after 25 years of service. She was a devoted member of the Real Life Community Church in Portage where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and taught Caravan girls group.  Norma enjoyed reading her bible nightly, flower gardening, swimming, and attending all of her children and grandchildrens concerts.   She will be remembered by her family as a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of over 66 years, Bob Burton of Portage, IN; four daughters, Janet (Bill) Cravens of Westville, IN; Jane (Paul) Reisen of Portage, IN; Susan (Eric) Schroeder of Valparaiso, IN; Kathy Modesto of Hobart, IN; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Cremation will take place with Rees Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Portage Chapel (219) 762-3013.  Memorial services are Thursday, November 11, 2021 at 4 p.m. at the Real Life Community Church, 3134 Swanson Road, Portage, IN.  Memorial visitation is just prior to the service from 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the church.
