Norma Minnie Foreman VanDeWater, age 96, entered eternal life on January 7, 2019 at her home in Comfort, Texas. She was born on September 20, 1922 to Wilfred and Lydia (nee Behrens) Foreman in Portage, Indiana. She graduated from Portage High School in 1941 and Valparaiso Business School in 1942. On August 5, 1943 she married Edward W. VanDeWater. They resided and raised three children on Lute Road, Hobart, Indiana. In 1973, they retired to Bradenton, Florida. In March, 2015, Norma moved with her two daughters and son-in-law to Comfort, Texas. During her life time she was employed at U.S. Steel as a secretary to the Works Auditor. From 1951-1972 she was head bookkeeper for the Portage Township School District. While in Florida she worked at Marnav Builders and the Presbyterian Retirement Community/Bradenton Manor serving in various departments. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church (WELS) where she volunteered as a receptionist for the church and the school after she retired.
Norma was survived by her three children; Daniel (Claudia) VanDeWater of Racine, Wisconsin, Debora (Kerry) Newcom and Dedra VanDeWater of Comfort, Texas; six grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; two sisters, Helen (James) Gland of Woodbury, Minnesota and Ruth Arnold- Jorstad of Glendale, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward VanDeWater (February1, 1978), her parents, her brother, William Foreman and sister, Dorothy Daege.
