Norma Kaye Varga, age 72, a longtime Lake County resident peacefully passed away Sunday, August 25, 2024, amongst her family. She was born November 11,1951 in Palestine, Illinois to the late Ernest and Annabelle Patten. Her family was her everything. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandma and great grandma. Norma enjoyed Bingo, painting landscapes and caring for her feline friends. Her tender nature, compassionate heart and sweet smile will be sorrowfully missed.
Norma is survived by her husband Bert Allen Varga, children Tina (John) Jones, Allen Varga; siblings Judy (late Wilbur) Charnetzky, Barbara (Jim) Smith; sisters-in-law; Francis (Bill) Renn, Susan Patten; brother-in-law Robert Varga; grandchildren, Jake (Cinthia) Cruz, Devin Ray Wilson, and Chase Jones; and three great-grandchildren Jason, Kaylynn and Rosie.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sundee Varga, brother, Paul Patten, sister, Anna (Carl) Miller, and sister-in-law Alberta Varga. Norma chose to join her family in Heaven after a tremendous fight with cancer.
In accordance with Norma's wishes, no service will be held. cremation will take place with Rees Funeral Home and Cremation service. A private burial of remains will take place at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. A Celebration of Life will be held by the family on Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 2p-6p.
