Norman Leo Govert, age 84 a lifetime Hobart resident passed away Thursday, February 13, 2025.  He was born on June 3, 1940, in Gary,  Indiana to the late Joseph and Sylvia Govert.  Norm worked as a Millwright and retired from U.S. Steel in 2000.  He was a member of Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church in Portage.

He is survived by his wife, Beckie Govert of Hobart, IN; four children, Gayle O'Connor of Valparaiso, IN; Scot (Cheryl) Govert of Livermore, CA; Dana (Mark) Hamady of Chesterton, IN; Jeff (Anne) Govert of Alexandria, VA; siblings, Elaine (Mike) Ryan of PA; Alan (Janet) Govert of Hobart, IN; sisters-in-law, Joyce Govert of Philadelphia, PA; Marina Govert of Chapel Hill, NC; grandchildren, Katie (Joe), Corie, Emily, Madeline (Nick), David, Lauren, and Nathan, and many other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers memorials in Norman's honor may be made to St. Vincent Depaul at Nativity, 2949 Willowcreek Road, Portage, IN 46348 or Phil's Friends (Cancer Support), 1249 Arrowhead Court, Crown Point, IN  46307.

A Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 11:00 am at Nativity of Our Savior, 2949 Willowcreek Road, Portage with Rev Kevin McCarthy officiating.  Burial will follow at St Michael's Cemetery, Schererville, IN.  Visitation is Tuesday, February 18, 2025, from 4:00 pm. to 8:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart.  (219) 942-2109 or online at www.Reesfuneralhomes.com.
