Norman Lee "Swampy" Haskell, age 73, of Portage, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Golden Living in Portage. He was born in East Chicago, Indiana on July 23, 1945 to the late Henry and Margaret (nee Fuerst) Haskell. Norman proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a diesel mechanic at Haskell Trucking in Portage and an amateur radio enthusiast, call number "K9CAW". He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and friend who will be missed by many.
Norman is survived by his children, Christopher (Dawn) Haskell, Kimberlee Haskell, James Haskell; grandchildren, Brett, Robert, Cody, Maddy, Hunter; sister, Carol Rosendaul; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Chuck and Henry "Sonny" Haskell; sister, Mary Ann Snowdy; mother of his children, Patricia A. Haskell; and his parents.
Close friends of Norman are welcome to join the family for an intimate gathering on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 from 10:00-11:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, Winfield Chapel, 10909 Randolph St. Crown Point, IN 46307.
