Norman M. Lucas, age 88, of Portage passed away Monday 1/20/2014 at The Sterling House in Portage. Norman was born July 16, 1925 in Knox, Indiana to the late Joseph Earl and Cleo (Rank) Lucas. Norman was the former owner of Enterprise Trucking, Lucas Division. He was also a member of the Knox Lodge #639 F&AM, The Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, the Marine Corps League, Disabled American Veterans, the Purple Heart Association, the Knox VFW Post #748 and the Knox American Legion Post #131. Norman lived for his Friday dinners with his grandchildren Heather and Tyler DeNormandie and great grandson Wyett.
Norman is survived by his daughter Linda (Steve) Palm of Orlando, FL; stepdaughter Peggy (Kip) Thomas of Clarksville, OH; three stepsons Steven A. Lucas of Brandon, FL, Joseph E. (Terry) Lucas of Eldena, IL and Edward (Phyllis) Lucas of LaPorte; one brother Louis (Wanda) Lucas of Rolling Praire; one sister Ruby Wade of LaPorte; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Norman was preceded in death by his loving wife Wilma and parents.
Funeral services will be 11 am Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Avenue Portage, IN with Rev. Deb Rouselle officiating. Burial will follow in McCool Cemetery Portage, IN. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Friday at the Funeral Home.
