Nyla Jean Leech Ellis-Loving, age 69 of Hobart passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2012. She was born on November 8, 1942 in Hammond Indiana to the late George H. and Mary D. Leech. Nyla graduated from River Forest in 1960. She went on to earn her Associate Degree from Indiana University School of Nursing. She retired from St. Mary Medical Center where she worked for many years as an Emergency Room Nurse. Nyla was an avid IU Basketball fan and an avid Chicago Bears fan. She also enjoyed reading and crafts.
She is survived by 1 son, William J. (Katherine) Ellis of Lake Station, IN; 2 daughters, Kristine L. (Robert) Johnston of Granger, IN; Kelly A. (Tom) Meschede of Valparaiso, IN; 2 brothers, Larry Leech of Lake Station, IN; Greg (Bernice) Leech of Valparaiso, IN; 1 sister, Janet Leech of Hobart, IN; 7 grandchildren, Lindsay, Alyssa, and Kyle Johnston, William, Michael, and Jessica Ellis, Samantha, and Andrew Meschede.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Ellis, her granddaughter, Allison Meschede.
Funeral services are Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West old Ridge Road, Hobart. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
