Opal (Rogers) Wright, age 97 of Hobart passed away Sunday, July 17, 2022. She was born on March 8, 1925 in Shannon, Mississippi to the late Rufus and Nora Rogers. On April 10, 1943 she married Paul Wright in Lucedale, Mississippi. She was a dedicated member of Bible Baptist Church in Portage. Opal regularly donated funds to retired police officer organizations, cancer and illness foundations, the military and homes for orphaned children. She also purchased and sent care packages to the troops in Iraq and Iran. She will always be remembered for her benevolent nature.

Opal is survived by her son, Trennis L. (Charlene) Wright of Vista, CA; grandchildren, Michelle Kristine, Trennis Wright, Jr., Paul Devere (Stephanie) Wright, Katrina Loar, Phillip (Michelle) Greer; 9 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; cousins, Excail Burlesson, Pamela Boone and Virginia Golden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Nora Rogers; her beloved husband, Paul Wright; and daughter, Peggy Dale Farley.

A funeral service for Opal will take place Monday, July 25, 2022 at 12:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Rev. Donald Good officiating. She will be laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Monday from 11:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. For more information, please call (219) 942-2109.
