Ophia Erlene Medley (nee Hathcock), age 88 of Portage passed away Saturday, August 15, 2015. She was born on October 28, 1926 in Cullman, Alabama to the late Sam and Ophia Hathcock. Ophia enjoyed quilting, spending time with her family and will be remembered as an excellent cook.

She is survived by one son, Thomas Dwayne Medley of Valparaiso, IN; four daughters, Charlotte (John) Russell of Portage, IN; Kathy (Bob) Ton of Porter, IN; Paula (Chuck) Powers of OH; Teresa (George Currer) Tachik of Lake Station, IN; three brothers, Coy and Delton both of TN; and Vernie of IL; three sisters, Gertrue of AR; Ressie of TX; and Merle of AR; 17 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas H. Medley, one son, James Dale Medley, five brothers, Ralph, Doyle, Olen, Nolen, and Bernie, and one sister, Bessie.

Funeral services are Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage with Pastor Ron Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso. Visitation is Tuesday, August 18, 2015 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, Portage.
