Patricia Ann Craighead, best known as "Pat," of Portage, IN, passed away on July 23, 2023, at the age of 67. Pat was born on October 10, 1955, to the late James and Mary (nee Cafferata) Campbell. Pat grew up in South Holland, Illinois, with her four younger siblings, before graduating with a Bachelor's degree in accounting from St. Joseph's College in Rensselaer, Indiana, where she met her dear husband of 45 years, John Craighead.
Pat and John raised their three daughters in Portage, Indiana, and over the years Pat worked for a local CPA firm preparing tax returns before becoming the comptroller for the Portage YMCA later in her career. She enjoyed spending time with her family, preferably over delicious meals at a variety of favorite restaurants, grilling at home, enjoying family get togethers with her extensive Irish and Italian families, and vacationing with John and her daughters.
An analyst at heart, she was an instinctively insightful person and always looked out for the small details. Pat will be remembered as an avid reader and was an especially generous gift giver, especially when it came to spoiling her four grandchildren.
She is survived by her beloved husband, John Craighead; her three daughters, Emily Abuatieh (Ashraf) of Portage, IN, Eileen Compty (Michelle) of Milwaukee, WI, and Mary Tyler (Benjamin) of Dyer, IN; her four grandchildren, Jordan, Judah, Maisie, and Bryce; and her sisters, Denise Gurley of Munster, IN; Kathleen DeBiasio (Robert) of St. John, IN; and Margaret Scholin (Claude) of Naperville, IL; and many treasured nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, James and Mary (Cafferata) Campbell, her brother Edward "Eddie" Campbell, and nephew James "Jim" DeBiasio.
Memorial donations in Pat's honor may be made to the VNA Foundation, 501 Marquette St., Valparaiso, IN 46383, the American Red Cross, PO Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037-0839, or Nativity of Our Savior Food Pantry, 2949 Willowcreek Road, Portage, 46368.
