Patricia Mitchell

Patricia "Trish" A. Mitchell, age 70, of Valparaiso, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 26, 2018.  She was born in Hickman, Kentucky on October 15, 1947 to the late Charlie and Ella Mae (nee Davis) Kemp.  She waitressed at the Stepping Stone and Snack Time restaurants in Lake Station and also was employed at Valparaiso University in the housekeeping department for 10 years.  She loved to visit Aunt Juanita and her many cousins in Tennessee. She was a fantastic cook and enjoyed watching cooking shows, going to craft shows, crossword puzzles and shopping.  Trish especially enjoyed spending every holiday with her entire family.  She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many.

Trish is survived by son, Thomas (Beverly) Mitchell; daughters, Dena Mitchell, Lisa (Robert) Fox; grandchildren, Tara Adams, Sarah Mitchell, Zach Chirch, Thad Martz, Nathan Fox; great granddaughter, Lainey Bug; sister, Diane (Dale) Howell; and brother, Bob (Leona) Kemp.  Aunt Tis was deeply loved by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Lawanda Sue; and her parents.

Memorial contributions may be made, in Patricia's honor, to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101.

A funeral service for Trish will take place Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 10:00 am with Pastor Bob Burton officiating at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave. Portage, IN 46368.  She will be laid to rest at McCool Cemetery, Portage.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 2-8 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 219-762-3013.  Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.reesfuneralhomes.com.
