Patricia A. Oswald, age 91, of Hobart, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2017.  She was born in Sutersville, PA on July 24, 1926 to the late Benjamin and Eleanor (nee Burkhart) Messner.  She was a proud graduate of IUN with an Associate's Degree in Nursing.  She worked at the Lutheran Home and the Lake County Convalescent Home.  She was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Hobart and the Portage Historical Society.  In 2001, Patricia traveled to the Holy Land with her pastor and church group.

Patricia is survived by sons, Jonathon (Joan) Oswald of Breman, IN, Patrick (Jaime) Oswald of Ohio; daughter, Sherry (Royce) Peterson of Hobart; grandchildren, Nicole (Patrick) Henderson of Greenwood, IN, Tricia (Alan) Besner, Garry (Holly) Oswald of Whiteland, IN, Bryan (Harthe) Peterson of New Lenox, IL, Marcy Peterson of Lisle, IL, Rachael (Tom) Allendorf, Derek (Nicole) Oswald of Hobart; and great grandchildren, Jonah Henderson, Jack, Lilly, and Drew Besner, Abby and Lucas Oswald, Blake and Alec Peterson, Corrine Oswald, Devlin Haynes, Jude Oswald.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, John Oswald; baby Silas; brothers, James Messner, George Messner; and her parents.

Memorial contributions may be made, in Patricia's honor, to the First United Methodist Church of Hobart, 654 E. 4th Street, Hobart, IN 46342.

A funeral service for Patricia will take place Friday, November 3, 2017 at 12:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W.
