Patricia L. Schaeffer (nee Plowman), age 89, of Hobart, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2020. She was born on November 14, 1931 in Hammond, Indiana to the late Herbert and Edith Plowman. She was a 1950 graduate of Gary Lew Wallace High School. On September 12, 1954, she married Erwin Schaeffer. She was a member of the PEO Sisterhood for over 50 years. Pat loved nature. She would slow down to look for swans every time she crossed over the Wisconsin street bridge. Her children will lovingly remember their mother as they look for those swans for the rest of their lives.

Pat adored her family and dedicated her life to taking care of them. In her final days she found joy in the thought of being reunited with her beloved husband, Erwin.

Pat is survived by her son, Dean (Linda) Schaeffer; daughters, Linda (Mick) Pastuszak, Dawn (William) Olding, Gail Ponder, Sandra Tomaga; 9 grandchildren, Gary (Leslie) Pastuszak, Ashley (Johnny) Rich, Allison (Paul) Gutierrez, Chris Olding, Shane Tomaga, Chad Tomaga, Jason Schaeffer, Michael Schaeffer and Kristine Robb; 5 great grandchildren with one on the way; and many extended loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Erwin Schaeffer; son-in-law, Pete Tomaga; grandson, Shawn Robb and his wife, Alisha; parents, Herbert and Edith Plowman; brother, Bud Plowman.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Symphony of Crown Point for the loving care they provided.
