Patrick Frank Shay

Patrick Frank Shay, age 71, a longtime resident of Portage, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2011. He was born on October 28, 1939 in Amhurst, Ohio, the son of James and Clair Shay. Patrick had attended Ohio State University and was a graduate of Indiana University. Patrick proudly served his country in the United States Army. Patrick had worked as a crane man for Bethlehem Steel, was a mobile home park owner, and also worked as a realtor. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 260 and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 7760. He enjoyed scuba diving, power lifting, and riding horses.

Patrick is survived by his loving family; sons James (Colleen) Shay, Wakarusa, Joe (Jennifer) Shay, North Judson, and Jamie Shay, Portage, daughters Kathleen Embry, Portage, Amy Shay, Lake Station, and Stacey Shay, Portage, step-daughters Tina Dillard and Janice Graves, 12 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and other loving family and dear friends.

A visitation for Patrick Shay will be held from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Rees Funeral Home – Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 15, 2011 at Rees Funeral Home. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
