Patty J. Nelson, age 81, of Hobart passed away Monday 1/16/2017 at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart. Patty was born August 13, 1935 in Hobart, Indiana to the late Albert and Ethel (Schroeder) Manis. She worked as a secretary for the School City of Hobart and at the New Image Tanning Salon for over ten years following her retirement. She was a former member of the Tri Kappa Sorority.

Patty is survived by her three children, Michael (Christine) Nelson of Hobart, April Nelson of Hobart and Beth (Joe) Navarro of Valparaiso; six grandchildren, Jennifer (John) Maier, Christy (Corey) Doyne, Jason (Jessica) Nelson, Matthew (Emily) SeDoris, Amanda SeDoris and Jessica (Ken) Evans; nine great grandchildren Bryce, Hayden, Cole, Kenzie, Kara, Zachary, Alexis, Sharlize and Azalea; and her three Fur Babies Mr. Boy, Miss Kitty and Baby.

Patty was preceded in death by her loving husband Curtis, her parents and sister Lucy Black.

Memorial visitation will be conducted from 4-7 pm Thursday January 19, 2017 at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342. Memorial services will be Thursday at 7 pm with Pastor Deb Rousselle officiating. Patty's ashes will be buried in Calumet Park Cemetery at a later date.
