Paul Eugene Crisman passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at the age of 88. Paul was a very devout Christian. He was always ready to assist with any work around the church. He held many offices in the Hobart First United Methodist Church. His best gift from God was his voice. He rarely missed a Sunday service or a Wednesday choir practice. His wife Bettie was the choir director for 30 years and that was the only time she got to boss Paul around. After retirement, they joined the Methodist Church in Crown Point. Paul worked at Inland Steel for 43 years as a machinist. He was a dedicated Cubs fan. Old age tried its best to slow him down, but wasn't successful. He will always be remembered as a great husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to all. He will be sorely missed but not forgotten. Be at peace, Paul. We are holding each other up.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Bettie (Hayes) Crisman; children, Susan Gotcher, Judith (Ken) Rapier, Michelle (Jerry) Scott, Greg (Sue) Crisman, Luanne (Mike) Flynn, Daniel Crisman, and Jeff (Kim) Crisman; 17 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and many loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Ricky and Ted Crisman. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Paul's name may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Crown Point, 352 S. Main St, Crown Point.
Visitation for Paul will be held Monday, January 22, 2024, from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. A funeral service will take place Monday at 5:00 pm at First United Methodist Church of Crown Point, 352 South Main Street Crown Point, IN 46307. He will be laid to rest in a private graveside service at McCool Cemetery in Portage. For more information, please call (219) 942-2109.
