Paul Pavelka, age 84 a long time resident of Hobart passed away Sunday, November 7, 2010. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Susan C. (nee Lawrence), parents Mike and Anna (nee Zona) Pavelka, twin brother Frank (Geraldine) Pavelka, son Kenneth and daughter Donna (Zolton) Kiraly.
He is survived by daughter; Linda (Ray) Phillips, sons; Ed (Sue) Pavelka and James Pavelka, grandchildren; Kayla Phillips, Kristy (nee Keopke) (Aaron) Grenat, Kelly (nee Koepke) (Phil) Dent, Janet (nee Kiraly) (Joe) Minard, Timothy Kiraly and 5 Great Grandchildren, brother; Ken (Patricia) Pavelka, sisters; Anna Mae Satanek and Elaine (Kenneth) Hydinger.
Paul was a Tolliston High School graduate who proudly served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He received industrial training through U.S. Steel Carnegie Mellon Institute before retiring as a Boilermaker after 30 years of service for U.S. Steel Gary works. Paul enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball and Youth Basketball. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, and gardener. He served as a deacon at church in his retirement years. He also helped deliver Meals on Wheels. He was a member of the Northwest Seventh Day Adventist Church in Winfield.
Visitation will be Friday, November 12, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Graceland Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, 1505 E. Northland Drive, Valparaiso, Indiana with a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with REv. Allen Shepherd officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Diabetes Association would be appreciated. The arrangements were completed by Rees Funeral Homes.
