Paul R. Scherer, age 80, of Hobart passed away November 7, 2023. Paul was born February 14, 1943, in Joliet, Illinois to the late Ralph and Evelyn (Amann) Scherer. He retired from US Steel with over thirty years of service. He was a proud veteran of the US Marine Corps. He was a former member of American Legion Post #54, and enjoyed his lunch time crew at Cagney's.

Paul is survived by his loving wife, Janice Scherer; son, Scott and wife Carrie; grandson, Alex; granddaughter Kelsey; mother-in-law, Dorothy Kaletta; sisters-in-law, Joyce (Greg) Boynak and Dana (Jim) Alexander; special nieces and nephews; and special friends the Stephens Family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Shirley (Bob) Vescovi and Connie (Rich) Kaveny, and his father-in-law, Phil Kaletta.

A Memorial Visitation will be held from 1-3 pm Saturday November 18, 2023, at the Rees Funeral Home 600 W. Old Ridge Road Hobart, Indiana 46342. A memorial service will follow immediately at 3 pm.
