Pedro Cruz, Jr., age 66, a longtime resident of Lake Station, passed away on May 27, 2011. He was born on September 4, 1944 in Puerto Rico, the son of Pedro and Alejandrina Cruz, Sr. Pedro was married to Yolanda "Gigi" Gonzalez on September 27, 1969 in Gary. Pedro worked as a steelworker in the # 1 BOP Shop at U.S. Steel retiring in 2002 after 30 years of service. He was a member of Steelworkers Union – Local 1040. Pedro loved the outdoors, camping, playing dominoes, and being with his family. He was a great Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Cubs fan.

Pedro is survived by his loving family; wife Yolanda "Gigi" Cruz, Lake Station, daughter Kimberly (Gilbert A.) Soto, Portage, son Pedro Cruz, III, Lake Station, grandchildren Gilliana G. Soto and Gilbert A. Soto, brother Felix (Midalia) Cruz, Puerto Rico, special family Leon and Lu Feliciano, niece Inez Cintron, and family, brother-in-law Louis Gonzalez and Pedro Diaz, special sister-in-law Diana Negron, nieces Stacy and Elizabeth, great niece Emerson, best friends Mike and Tom, and other loving family and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, his brother Manuel Cruz, his sister Natividad Feliciano Cruz, his brother-in-law Jorge L. Negron, and nephew Joel.

A visitation for Pedro Cruz, Jr. will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at Rees Funeral Home – Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Rees Funeral Home. Burial will be at McCool Cemetery. Memorials in Pedro's memory may be made to the Cruz Family.
