Peggy J. Weiland (nee Burns), age 80 of Portage passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015. She was born on July 28, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Edward and Mary Burns. She was a Portage resident since 2000 and was formerly of Riverdale, Illinois. She loved reading, flower gardening, and fishing.

She is survived by her husband, Robert "Bob" Weiland of Portage, IN; one son, Richard "Rick" (Sandy) Weiland of Portage, IN; two daughters, Robin (late Robert) Meister of Chesterton, IN; Lori ((late Robert) McNear of Portage, IN; one brother, Lawrence "Larry" (Penny) Burns of Beecher, IL; one sister, Susan Burns of Lake Station, IN; 3 grandchildren, Brian and Kimberly Weiland, and Kelly McNear.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Gary Lynn Weiland, and one sister, Sandra (Phil) Faron.

A memorial service for Peggy will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage with Rev. Michaile Broadnax officiating.
