Philip Eugene Kiger, age 75, of Portage, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart. Philip proudly served his country in the United States Army and had been a Northwest Indiana resident for the last 50 years. Phil was employed at Heckett Engineering for over 35 years at the LTV plant in East Chicago, IN and was a member of the Local 150 Operating Engineers for 45 years. He was a member of Bonner Senior Center in Portage, Indiana.
He is survived by his loving son, Mark Kiger of Hobart, stepson, Richard (Denise) Hooker of Chandler, AZ. Grandchildren; Andrew and Shelby Kiger of Crown Point and step granddaughter Raven Hooks, sister, Gayle Tarr of Washington PA. and many other loving family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Morgan and Anne Kiger, brother; Robert Kiger and sister Inez (nee Kiger) Hall.
