Phyllis A. Gearhart, age 67 a longtime Portage resident passed away Monday, August 8, 2016. She was born on November 14, 1948 in Madisonville, Kentucky to the late Robert and Martha Henderson. Phyllis had worked as a Customer Service Representative for the original Portage Kmart and the Super Kmart, retiring after 25 years. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed traveling with her girlfriends to tournaments over the years. Phyllis loved going to rummage sales and was well known for her rummage sale capabilities.

She is survived by her husband, Howard Gearhart of Portage, IN; two daughters, Kathy (Dennis) Kainrath of South Dakota, Rebecca Gearhart of FL; six grandchildren, Gary Dube Jr., Dennis Kainrath Jr., Danielle Denton, Aaron Kainrath, Lauren Carlson, and Jared Young, one great-grandson, Rory Kainrath, five lifelong best friends, Maryann Bono, Becky Buckwalter, Diana Negro, Nancy Jenco, and Silvia Ochoa.
