Phyllis Marie Gniadek of PORTAGE, IN - Phyllis Marie Gniadek, wife of Stanley Martin Gniadek for over 60 years, Phyllis (age 81) died peacefully at home, October 14, 2018, while surrounded by close family and friends. Phyllis was a lifelong resident of Portage where she lived since 1958. She is preceded in death by her parents John and Viola Drake; siblings: Joanne Carlson, Karen Drake and Leon Drake and is survived by sisters: Carol Miller and Barb Drake; son, Patrick Gniadek (Jaimee) and daughter, Dianna Owen (Benjamin), and three grandchildren: Ryan, Jack and Evan. Phyllis was a graduate of Indiana UniversityNorthwest with a degree in primary education and was a substitute teacher for many years. She had an avid love for painting and enjoyed working at Chesterton Art Center where she made many friends. She was an original founding member of Nativity Parish and was a member of the choir. She will be missed by many. A memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 to 5:00 pm Sunday November 4, 2018 at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Avenue Portage, Indiana 46368.  A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday November 5, 2018 at 10:00 am at Nativity of Our Savior Catholic 2949 Willowcreek Road in Portage.  Rev Kevin McCarthy will officiate.
