Ralph Gonzales, age 93, a longtime Hobart resident, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2015 in Hillsboro, Missouri. He was born on February 22, 1922 to Ralph and Lucy (Leeds) Gonzales in New York, New York. In December 1947 Ralph married the love of his life the late Elizabeth Talmadge in Gary, Indiana. Ralph served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a 1950 graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelors Degree in Engineering. He was Past Master of the Orak Shiners Motor Patrol of Michigan City and a member of the Scottish Rite of South Bend and a member and Past Grand Master of the Glen Park Lodge No. 732, F. & A.M. He was also appointed and served on the Lake County Liquor Board. Ralph enjoyed golfing, being a Ham Radio Operator and spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his loving children, Ralph Michael (Debby) Gonzales of Indianapolis, Sandra Jayne (Brian) Bell of Hillsboro Missouri and Nancy Lynn (Dennis) Katzer of Fairmont, Minnesota; six grandchildren, Mark and Adam Gonzales, Jill Katzer, Justin, Colin and Abigail Bell; three great-grandchildren, Eliza Bell, John Priester and Jensen Gonzales and many other loving family members and friends.
Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Gonzales; his parents; two brothers, Brice and Charles Alexander Gonzales; and sister, Marian Elkins.
A funeral service for Ralph will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Rees Funeral Home, Winfield Chapel, 10909 Randolph St., Winfield/Crown Point, IN 46307 with Rev. Jeffrey Carter, officiating. Burial will take place at Calumet Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 8:00 to10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 27, 2015 with a 9:30 a.m. Masonic service at Rees Funeral Home, Winfield Chapel. For more information, please call (219) 661-2600.
