Ralph Mose Vandergriff

10/03/1940 – 11/13/2024

Passed away peacefully while in the care of the Visiting Nurses Association of Valparaiso. He lived a long, full life on his own terms and made many good friends along the way. As an avid gardener he provided a steady supply of peppers and tomatoes to friends and neighbors. He retired from LTV Steel with 40 years as a union steelworker. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church of Portage.

He is survived by his sons, Tim and Greg Vandergriff, granddaughters Jessica and Cassandra Vandergriff, and great grandsons Trevor and Zachary, sister, Wanda Sue Utley many nieces and nephews and lifelong friend, Kenny Moore.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Betsy Vandergriff, daughter in law, Beverly Vandergriff; his parents, Ralph and Josephine Vandergriff; brother, William Vandergriff, and sisters, Grace White and Marilyn Mancin.

A funeral service for Ralph will be held Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at 10:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave. Portage, Indiana, 46368. He will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Portage. Visitation will be held Monday, November 18, 2024, from 2:00-8:00 pm also at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel.
