Randall E. Mantz, age 27, of Portage, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2017. He was born on November 19, 1989 in Merrillville. He was a 2008 graduate of Portage High School. Randy was currently employed as a heavy equipment operator for Minteq International and was a member of the Operating Engineers Local #150. He was an avid fan of Chicago Cubs baseball. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and boating, riding motorcycles and gambling. He will always be remembered for his big heart, his infectious smile, and his love for children. Randy loved life and lived it to the fullest.

Randy is survived by his mother, Sherrie (Darryl Dugger) Mantz; father, Randy "Moe" Mantz; sister, Sharron (Todd Wormuth) Phelps; maternal grandmother, Sally Irvin; aunt, Noreen (Gary) Lindesmith; uncles, Steven Mantz, Bryan (Sandy) Phelps, Marvin (Shirley Fletcher) Irvin, and Melvin Irvin. Also surviving are his special cousin, Jon (Valerie) Tilmon, whom Randy always looked up to; extended family, Jenise, Jenna and Brad Dugger; special 'aunties', Cindy (Jim) Kimberling, and Yvonne (late Robert) Schuck; and many other loving nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Raymond Irvin; paternal grandparents, Robert and Lillian Mantz; uncle, Mark Mantz; auntie and uncle, Nancy and Charlie Tilmon.

A funeral service for Randy will take place Friday, August 25, 2017 at 7:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave, Portage.
