Reginald J. "Reg" Blouin, age 74, of Chesterton, IN and formerly of Hammond, IN, passed away surrounded by his beloved family on Wednesday, April 27, 2022.

Reg was born on September 4, 1947 in Chicago, IL to the late Reginald Blouin, Sr. and Lorraine May (nee Hinze).  He proudly served in the  United States Army overseas during the Vietnam War.  Upon his return, Reg married Maureen Krolikowski on July 26, 1969.  He was honorably discharged from the United States Army on December 3, 1970 after earning his SP5 designation.  Thereafter, Reg worked as a diesel mechanic for Patton Tractors until his retirement in 2010.  He then went on to own Pa's Workshop, where he worked with antiques, woodworking, and furniture repair.  He never truly retired and continued to tinker with items even when he finished working in January of 2022.  Reg even transported cars for Greigers Motor Sales and loved the traveling aspect of the job.

Reg was very active in his community, serving as an Ambassador for the Duneland Chamber of Commerce since 2013, where he was awarded Ambassador of the Year in 2020.  He was also a team leader for the Duneland Rebuilding Together, having been a volunteer for many years.  Reg was involved in the Chesterton European Market, where he would sell his woodworking projects and make many friends.  He also helped with humanitarian aid during Hurricane Harvey.

Reg was a devoted grandfather and loved his bulldogs.  He was a skilled Lego builder and a hobby woodworker.  His favorite food was Salmon pie made by his sister, Marcia.  Reg had a big heart and would give you the shirt off of his back.

Reg is survived by his daughters: Dawn Blouin, Jennifer (Carson) Clemans, and Amy Blouin; grandchildren: Rachelle (Dan Walsh), Katlynn, Raymond, Aleia, and Samantha; great-grandson: Wyatt Joseph; sister: Marcia Blackwell; niece: Michelle (Tim) Hansford; and many dear friends.

Reg is preceded in death by his wife: Maureen (June 13, 2021), his parents: Reginald, Sr. and Lorraine, and beloved bulldog: Dutchess.

Family and friends may gather at Rees Funeral Homes, Hobart Chapel (600 W Old Ridge Rd, Hobart) on Monday, May 2, 2022 from 3:00-8:00 P.M.  A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. from Rees Hobart Chapel.  Reg will receive military honors and be laid to rest at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens immediately following service.

The Blouin family cordially invites all of Reg's family and friends to celebrate his life at Chesterton Brewery (1050 Broadway #36, Chesterton) on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at 3:30 P.M.  Cash bar and appetizers will be available.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Reg's name are preferred to Heart to Heart Hospice or to the American Cancer Society.
