Renetta K. Grutsch

Renetta K. (Cauley) Grutsch, age 85 of Portage passed away Friday, August 23, 2024. She was born on January 11, 1939, in Owensboro, Kentucky to the late Walker and Doris Cauley. Nettie was a 1957 graduate of Gary Edison High School. Shortly after finishing school, she married her high school sweetheart and very best friend, Richard Grutsch, Sr. Together they raised a family and were active members of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. Her greatest joy in life was her family and she cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Richard Grutsch, Sr.; children, Lanetta (Marcus) Smith, Melissa Grutsch; Richard Grutsch, Jr.; 7 grandchildren, Michael, Jamie, Halley, Richard III, James, Tabathia, and Brandon; 10 great grandchildren; and brother, Glen (Neva) Cauley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walker and Doris Cauley; daughter, Cynthia Grutsch-Monchilovich; and sister, Juanita Anderson.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 10:00 am directly at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 3530 Illinois Street, Hobart.  She will be laid to rest in the graveyard of St. Gaspar del Bufalo Catholic Church in Rome City, Indiana.
