Reverend Frank D. Torres

Reverend Frank D. Torres, age 70 of Hebron passed away Monday, November 14, 2022 at Franciscan Hospital in Crown Point. He was born on May 7, 1952 in Gary, Indiana to the late Vernabe and Jennie Torres. He served his country as a member of the United States Navy. He dedicated his life to the service of his community. On June 4, 1994 he was ordained as a Roman Catholic Priest for the Diocese of Gary. Reverend Torres served at many parishes, most currently as the Associate Pastor of Saint Helen Church in Hebron, Saint Mary in Kouts and he assisted at Saint Edward in Lowell for the Spanish Mass.

He is survived by his brothers, Richard (Evangeline) Torres, Thomas (Charles Zuehlke) Torres, Robert (Orlett) Torres, Paul Torres; sister, Marie (William Breunig) Torres; many loving nieces and nephews; special aunt, Patricia K. Huerta.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Vernabe Torres, Jr.; and nephew, Matthew Nordyke.

Memorial contributions in Reverend Torres' name may be made to a Veteran's charity of the donor's choice.

Visitation will begin with a Rite of Reception of the Body on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Saint Helen Church, 302 N. Madison Street Hebron, IN 46341 with evening prayer at 7:00 pm. Additional visitation will be Monday from 9:00 am until the time of Morning Prayer at 10:00 am immediately followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am with Most Reverend Robert J. McClory, Bishop of Gary presiding. He will be laid to rest at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel.
