Officer Ricardo "Rico" Jesus Silva, Jr., also known as "Jesse", of Bush, LA passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2018.  He was born on March 15, 1992 in Munster, IN to Ricardo J. Silva, Sr. and Melissa Rivera Fredenrich.

Rico is survived by his fiance' Taylor Stevens;  his mother and stepfather Tim Fredenrich;  his father and his stepmother Betty Silva;  and his twelve brothers and sisters Jennifer Rivera, Joshua Wilson, Jeremiah Owens, Andrew Silva, John Silva (Hailey), Samuel Silva, Christopher Silva, Joseph Silva, Abigail Silva, Gabriella Silva, Isabella Silva and Brandon (Amber) Carter.  He is also survived by his grandmothers Betty Rivera and Alva Silva and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who all will miss him dearly.

Rico is preceded in death by his grandfathers William Rivera, Sr. and Jose Silva and his aunt Sarah Gedda.

Rico grew up in Portage, IN and graduated from Portage High School in 2011.  He worked security with Lakes of the Four Seasons and he was a Reserve Officer with Hobart Police Department.  He then began his career in Law Enforcement in Indiana with the City of Crown Point Police Department.  Rico and Taylor moved to Louisiana and settled in Bush.  He then attended and graduated from New Orleans Police Academy and became an officer with the New Orleans 5 ^th District in 2017.  Taylor and Rico were engaged the day he graduated from the Police Academy and were to be married this November.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services 7:00 pm Sunday September 2, 2018 at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Avenue Portage, Indiana 46368. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 7:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Rico to be made to Rees Funeral Home.
