Richard Baron, age 87 of New Chicago passed away Saturday, August 6, 2022. He was born on August 13, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois to the late John and Bessie Baron. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army 82 ^nd Airborne Division. On April 24, 1965 he married Arlene Czekaj in New Chicago. He retired from US Steel where he worked in production planning. Rich was a dedicated member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. He loved to fish and was an avid Chicago Bears fan. He will be sorely missed by his grandchildren and great grandchildren who affectionately knew him as "Yaya".

He is survived by his children, Paulette (Daniel) Hill of Hobart, Jackie (Gerry Miser) Mote of Knox, Jodie (Joel) Mackall of De Motte and Richard M. Baron, Jr. of Hobart; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Bessie Baron; his beloved wife, Arlene Baron; sisters, Elizabeth and Lillian; brothers, John and Edward Baron.

Visitation for Rich will be held Thursday, August 11, 2022 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart with a prayer service at 7:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday, August 12, 2022 at 10:00 am at Assumption BVM Catholic Church with prayers starting at 9:30 am at the funeral home. 4 YEARS OLD…My Daddy can do anything.
5 YEARS OLD…My Daddy knows a whole lot.
6 YEARS OLD…My Daddy is smarter than your Daddy.
8 YEARS OLD…My Dad doesn't know everything.
10 YEARS OLD…In the olden days, when Dad grew up things were different.
12 YEARS OLD…Oh well, naturally Dad doesn't know anything about that. He is too old to remember.
14 YEARS OLD…Don't pay attention. Dad's too old fashioned.
21 YEARS OLD…Him? He's hopelessly out of date.
30 YEARS OLD…Maybe we should ask Dad what he thinks. After all he's had a lot of experience.
35 YEARS OLD…I'm not doing a thing until I talk to Dad.
40 YEARS OLD…I wonder how Dad would have handled this. He was so wise and had a world of experience.
50 YEARS OLD…I'd give anything if Dad were here now so I could talk this over with him. Too bad I didn't appreciate how smart he was. I could have learned a lot from him.
