Richard "Rick" Charles Domikaitis, age 61, of Hobart, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on September 28, 1964, in Oak Lawn, Illinois, to Thomas and Judith Domikaitis. On May 14, 1988, Rick married the love of his life, Kelly O'Donnell, in Chicago, and together they built a life full of laughter, adventure, and deep devotion.

Rick made his living as a truck driver for DuBois Chemical, a job that reflected his strong work ethic and sense of responsibility. But beyond his career, Rick truly lived life to the fullest. He had an adventurous spirit and an infectious energy that drew people to him. In his younger years he played hockey, and throughout his life he remained active and outdoorsy. He loved golf, bowling, playing bags, working on cars, attending concerts, bonfires, and—most of all—spending time with his kids and grandkids. Whether tossing a ball in the yard or sharing his love of music, Rick made every moment count.

A proud Hobart resident, Rick was also a passionate Chicago Bears, Cubs and Blackhawks fan. He had a way of making ordinary days feel special, living each one "like it was his last." Above all else, Rick was a devoted son, husband, father, and grandfather. His family was his greatest joy and his proudest accomplishment.

Rick is survived by his loving wife, Kelly (née O'Donnell) Domikaitis; daughter, Kalie (Paul) Crowley; son, Douglas (Jessica) Domikaitis; cherished grandchildren, Marshall Crowley and Benjamin Domikaitis; his mother, Judith (Thomas) Kwapich; sister, Karyn (Robert) Reczek; brothers, James (Loretta) Domikaitis and Thomas (Carol) Kwapich; sister-in-law, Kathleen (Pat) Van Duyne; and brother-in-law, Joseph O'Donnell; many nieces and nephews, and stepmother, Dolores Domikaitis.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Domikaitis, and infant brother, Thomas C. Domikaitis, Jr.

Memorial visitation will be held Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart.
