Richard J. Chontos

Richard J. Chontos, age 77 of Hobart passed away Saturday, December 5, 2015. He was born on July 20, 1938 in Gary, Indiana. He was a longtime Hobart resident and a member of St. Bridget Church. He retired from U.S. Steel in 2001 where he had worked as an electrician. He was a great sportsman. He was inducted into the Lake Station Hall of Fame for his excellent basketball career. He was also an avid golf player.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Chontos of Hobart, IN; four children, Angie, Vickie, Rick, and Karen, one stepson, Tim; and many grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Richard's name may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

A memorial service for Richard will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 5:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Rev. Dominic Bertino officiating.
