Richard Cleveland

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Richard Albert Cleveland, age 72, born 11/7/1951, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Richard peacefully passed away at home in Lake Station on Saturday evening, August 25, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Richard's undying love for his family was the guiding force of his life, and he will be forever remembered for the joy, warmth, and steadfast devotion he brought to those who knew him. Richard's family is left with the gift of knowing he is forever home with his Lord & Savior. A lifetime resident of NW Indiana, Rich was a veteran of the United States Army. An extremely hard worker, Richard retired with 30yrs of service from Inland Steel and continued after retirement for 10yrs as a union laborer for the masons.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Ruby Cleveland (née Bieker); his children, Rick (Bridget) Cleveland, Steve (Lisa) Cleveland, Danielle (Eric) Wright, Michelle (James R.I.P.) Cleveland, Sonny Poskie, Jimbo Hamilton, and Brian Sweeney; his cherished grandchildren, Dacey, Alexis, Erin, Eavan, Tatum, Jared, Liam, Jolie, Jaxton, and Watson; and his great-grandchildren, Abiageal, Braedyn, Cailyn, and Aiden. He is also survived by his brother, Tom (Connie), his sister, Kathy (Ron), along with many nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones. He is preceded in death by his mother, June Marie Cleveland, and his grandson, lan Patrick Cleveland.

A memorial service will be held Friday, August 30, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at Crown of Life Church, 2825 Cleveland Ave., Hobart, Indiana 46342. A memorial visitation will also be held Friday, August 30, 2024, from 4:00 pm until the time of service also at Crown of Life Church in Hobart.
