Richard L. Cunningham, age 80 of Portage passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2016. He was born on May 13, 1935 in Gary, Indiana to the late Lee and Mary Cunningham. He was a Portage resident since 1951 and was formerly of Glen Park. Richard retired from U.S. Steel. He enjoyed lawn work, gambling at the boat, and making sure his vehicles were immaculate.
He is survived by four daughters, Kimberly Reed of St. Cloud, FL; Tammy (Bob) Nasiatka of Portage, IN; Jackie (Jeff) Orgon of Grayslake, IL; Roxanne Sherwood of Chicago, IL; One brother, Charles (Alice Compton) Cunningham of Portage, IN; one sister, Helen Vandiver of Portage, IN; two sisters-in-law, Olga Cunningham, Sharon Cunningham, eight grandchildren, Nate Reed, Jeremy Parker, Michael (Amanda) Nasiatka, Christina (Ron) Gasaway, Sarah (Kaden) Edmonds, Jeffrey Orgon, Neil Orgon, Bobby (Sara) Perry, and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley J. Cunningham, and three brothers, Mickey Cunningham, William Cunningham, James Cunningham.
Private burial will be at Heritage Cemetery, Portage.
Private funeral services will be at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, Portage.
